Same. Grind for the sake of grind. |
You know some games grind works just fine, and can be rewarding enough... hell some games even the grind can be challengeing enough.
Like in FF11 (the mmo).
Alone you could maybe do 2k-3k exp pr hour solo.... but in a party you could do 20k experiance points pr hour.
But for a party to work, you needed to keep optimal gear for your level range (which ment grinding for gold, to buy items), and it required medicines/sneak oils/invisibility powders/food buffs/ninja tools/juice buffs ect (which also ment grinding for gold).
So you had to make up if you wanted to solo, go slow, use what you found via random drops fighting trash mobs.
Or if you would grind for gold, use gold to be in party, and level faster that way (finding a party could take time too).
And you know what? that party based leveling system was a million times more rewarding than solo questing for xp in World of Warcraft.
The world felt alive, and it was a "real" mmo, you depended on others working together to get just about anything done in it, and the experiance was all the better for it. Fighting monsters that where way above your level, as a party, even just getting to the best EXP area's could be risky and tough... it made exploration fun.
That XP based party grind to level up, was much more fun than quests in WoW.
Grind mobs > silly quests.
