How will Nintendo do a 'GPS' Pokemon for Switch?

I believe the Switch will have some kind of smartphone connectivity functionality.
Instead of brining the console always around, you could just use the phone for searching pokemon/items outside or for trading, than you could upload the content into the game console. It would make more sense, imo.
