Super Mario RPG has already received spiritual successors in the form of the Mario & Luigi series and at least the first couple of entries of the Paper Mario series (Paper Mario arguably more than Mario & Luigi). Although Super Mario RPG is one of my favorite games ever, I can respect that it acted as a springboard for future Mario RPGs instead of becoming its own series.
