Its going to depend on a couple factors.
1) Is it considered something that wears out / can get damaged and is cheaply replaced?
2) Will they start selling the console without the dock such that people will share a dock in the home?
I think it will later on as it is not going to be an expensive component. It is only responsible for providing connections for the purpose of connecting to a TV. I tossed around the idea of Nintendo selling the NS without a dock, but that doesn't make sense as the cost of materials for this dock sounds like its next to nothing to warrant any real reason to sell without. But then again Nintendo did offer consoles without cords in various regions.
