They messed up but this clearly is the way to go.
There's no saving the Wii U now so they have to go full steam ahead with the Switch.
We're still getting Breath of the Wild on Wii U if we don't want to buy a Switch for it and launching Switch with Zelda will really jumpstart sales from the beginning, leading to more people owning it, which leads to more interest in developers since there will actually be a reasonable user base.
Bottom line is they have to dump whatever they can onto the Switch and if that means making BOTW a dual release and remastering/remaking Smash and Kart I'm all on board with it,
