I dont even know where to start with your post. So if Halo shipped 5million in its first 3 month and its been sitting on 4million psyical sales for the past few months than you expect it to still be sitting on 4m sales? Espeacilly when MS came out and said its the highest selling digital game on Xbox *At the time* It also grossed $400m with combined Software and Hardware sales. How much did UC4 make for Sony? The way you should look at it is like this - UC4 is Sonys best game on PS4 and it has double the User base *which helps boltster sales* Halo 5 is the lowest selling mainline Halo game in the franchise and it still matches Sony's best. Compliment to Halo 5. UC4 will go on to sell like it usually does around 5 to 6m and Halo 5 will most likely end up the same with half the install base. If Halo 5 was a PS4 exclusive it would have outsold UC4 quite easily. Halo 5's attach rate is also twice that of UC4. |
1. Where are you getting 4 million physical sales 3 months after launch? If it had shipped 5 million units (including digital sales) how would it have sold 4 million retail copies at the same time? As I pointed out, game shipments are very few and far between after the launch window.
2. It grossed $400m with combined software and hardware sales? Which means...what, exactley? Uncharted 4 sold more than 2.7 million copies in it's first week. How many copies did Halo 5 sell? Since, this is a discussion of video game sales, not gross revenue.
3. The way I "should" look at it? You mean the way that fits your narrative? Tell me, is Halo 5 not Microsofts best selling exclusive? It has also had more than twice the amount of time to sell, and has already gone through its first holiday season. Not to mention, Uncharted actually isn't Sonys best selling exclusive franchise. Though, GT does seem to find itself in a similar situation as Halo.
4. I'll reiterate. Halo 5 is way down from previous games. Why would it's lackluster sales be to its credit? "Yay, you almost sold as well as a game you should have outsold easily"?
5. It's also important to point out that because Halo 5 is older, and hasn't sold aswell, each week that goes by will have it slipping farther and farther behind Uncharted 4.
6. No, it likely wouldn't be outselling Uncharted 4 at all. Uncharted 4s average weekly sales are more than double those of Halo 5. Especially since the smaller a userbase, the more likely they are to be dedicated to the exclusives of that console company (look at Nintendo).
Uncharted 4 is selling better than Halo 5. It's lifetime sales, will be higher than Halo 5. Halo is not the franchise it used to be.
