| curl-6 said: It's worth noting that while the combined userbase of 3DS and Wii U may currently represent about 73 million systems, it doesn't represent 73 million actual consumers, as a lot of Wii U owners are also 3DS owners, and a lot of 3DS owners will own more than one model. So even if everyone who bought an 8th gen Nintendo system buys a Switch, that's still probably quite a bit less than 70 million. And that's before you factor in that, inevitably, some Wii U/3DS owners will not get a Switch. I don't mean to rain on everyone's parade, I'm just suggesting a little caution for the moment. Remember, a lot of people predicted Wii U would sell over 70 million. Let's not get carried away before we even know its price and software. |
Switch can also sell to those who never bought either platform though (one example being Vita owners) so again it's not wild prediction, if priced right I can see it doing fine because it doesn't have brand confusion like the Wii U, the concept is much clearer than with Wii U and it's very likely it'll have a unified library unlike Wii U. Remember a lot of people also wrote off the Wii as well.
