WiiU being laid to rest, rightfully so. All future efforts to focus solely on the Switch

Their future efforts have been focused on Switch since early 2014. Ever since then they've only finished what they already started, for WiiU. Announcing no new game that wasn't already in the works before E3 2014, with the exception of Color Splash. (And the rushed budget titles, Mario Tennis and Amiibo Festival.)

I called it a long time ago that this was a strong sign that WiiU wouldn't get more than 1 or 2 new quality title announcements, and turns out that's what happened.

One would hope so. Through WiiU's dryer years, Nintendo was working on titles for the Swich.
