Well, I'd certainly hope they would still believe in console generations, as going the moderate upgrade every few years like smartphones would kinda suck, and a route I'd hope consoles would not got. And I thought it would be clear that the name 'PS4 Pro' would indicate it's not the start of a new generation.
I kinda like Cerny's definition of a new console generation, as it doesn't talk about the Playstation brand only, but consoles in general, as how each Ninten, Sony and MS innovated the industry in their own ways. It's something I can somewhat agree with.
