I understand in 5 years maybe developers will want to cut support of the OG X1 and PS4 for AAA. But those OG consoles can still handle a lot of lower spec stuff. For example, many games low end games on X1 and PS4 would work fine on 7th gen consoles but its a lot of work to bring those games to very different hardware.

The route MS is going makes me think OG X1 support may be cut off, but Scorpio and the X1 will still be able to share games.

While the potential life of PS4 Pro might be cut short because its held back by OG PS4.

see Rafies answer, Sony has more balance with the Vanilla PS4 and Pro. MS on the other hand has the strongest and the weakest console at the same, it wont be fun to devolop games for both
