PS4 Pro is just an extension of the PS4 so essentially announcing the PS5 in 2017 for a 2018 release means a 5 year gap.

Essentially this means that people who buy a new PS4P and where not a PS4 owner before will have a system that released in 2016 and will have a successor 2 years after that.

But it is up to Sony to communicate that to the fanbase. Many already accepted the Pro and now even see something good in that so I don't think that they will have a problem communicating that.
