I think this is a great question and one that not even Ninty themselves know

Its not a great question and is irrelevent, besides the main concept of Switch isn't even a gimmick.

A gimmick is typcially defined as a special feature for the sake of having a special feature or in other words something that doesn't really have a functional purpose.

The concept of having a single device that can be played at home or on the go is not a gimmick, it serves an actual purpose for Nintendo and consumers.

Consolidating their development teams and combining the support from their handheld & consoles serves an actual purpose.

Allowing consumers to have access to all Nintendo games without having to buy two completely seperate devices with little in common serves an actual purpose.

I think its a great question and thats what matters to me. You dont think it is, that is your opinion. Fact remains Sony systems have sold without having some kind of gimmick, hook, whatever you want to call it, but now we're getting off topic.

I didnt even say Switch was a gimmick. I actually think its fine. No doom over here.
