Nintendo likely solved 3 of it's biggest problems:
A nice, slick and well marketed machine -> Done
Unified library/concept and preventing internal competition or droughts -> Done
Minimal 3rd party support (from Japan) -> Done
The only one left, is obviously the western 3rd party support. We'll have to see on that one, but Nintendo took care of some longlasting problems this time. So they did learn some lessons.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
