Never liked the Wii-mote, prefer traditional controllers. Wii-mote was fun for Wii Sports and similar games, but I found the controls to be more of a hassle than a boon in traditional games like Zelda TP and even SMG. MK8 with wii-mote was horrible compared to regular controls or even the Gamepad.

I'll look into it, the last Nintendo console I owned was a N64, so it's overdue and then some...

I never had a problem playing Mario Kart with nunchuck and wiimote.  I never bothered with the stupid wheel more than once or twice though.  I also liked the Wiimote + nunchuck combo for CoD games on the Wii.  Takes a second to get down but once you get it down they are perfect (point and shoot).  Feels better than dual analog for shooters if controls done right (I liked it for CoD:WaW and BO but didn't like it as much in Goldeneye).  I was mainly stating Wiimote nunchuck combo for old Wii games.  The Wii U pro controller is a pretty good controller for those that like traditional controls.  Classic controller pro is a decent traditional controller also (need a Wiimote to plug it into and not all games support it but good for virtual console games).

Played some Mario Kart 8 last night with Wii U Pro controller showing off the game to a neighbor that doesn't even really play games (played old school 80s arcade games back in day but nothing recently).  He was impressed with the game and I was a little upset I've neglected my Wii U lately.  We also played some Wild West Guns (WiiWare) because it is an easy rails shooter and he had a decent time.  I didn't want to throw a game with a bunch of buttons at him so kept it basic.

Honestly, as a proper PC elitist, I kinda refuse to play FPS games on consoles at all... But yeah, I can see how the wii-mote would work in those games. Dual analogue controllers are not fit for FPS, but I think they work well for 3rd person shooters (RE5 on 360 was great, the 360's gamepad is really good for TPS games).
