I agree.  $300 would even be pushing it.  If Nintendo is serious about the NS succeeding, it should sell at $250 for a base model and $300 for a bundle; that price should tempt the kids and casuals that Nintendo obviously wants to court again.  If the rumors are true and Nintendo got a bargain for the nvidia chips, then that should be doable.
