I think it's not very smart. I mean you have a console launching not that far from the holiday season, a time when there are going to be great deals on tablets, phones, and consoles. Why not get out the info, now, so people can decide if they want to hold off on a holiday purchase/gift and instead wait for the NS? At least the price and whether or not it will have a touchscreen and will be getting ports of mobile games. If they are going to try and get the casual crowd, they may be losing quite a few sales from people who will be getting a really nice tablet/phone for Xmas. Will it be as powerful as the NS? Most likely not. But it will play any mobile game you throw it. |
I understand that part. But most people want to buy something in the holiday rush to gift to others or for themselves because of the crazy holiday deal mentality. Telling people, "Hey don't forget to buy MY thing too! It's NOT ready NOW or by CHRISTMAS, so ignore all those cool deals when mine is new and expensive!" when people want to buy something right there and then isn't very good. People may tune out of the info and the expensive marketing during the holiday rush will go to waste. Better save that marketing for Jan - March when no new video game tech is getting released and few big games are coming out.
In anyways, this March release was cutting it close anyway.
