Can you explain Nintendo's announcement/reveal strategy?

I feel like the Breath of Wild and Switch reveals were masterminded by the same mad scientist. After months of confusion and disappointment, a reveal comes down from the heavens to shock and wow us. Then poof. Nothing more to say about. Wait right here for another 3-4 months.

And in that intervening time? Great stuff we never asked for comes out of left field.  NES Classic. Super Mario Run. WiiU ports to 3DS. But what really holds our attenion are the questions we have that are long-in-the-tooth for answers.

Will the Nintendo Switch have a new 3D mario at launch? Just how good will the launch lineup be?  Bethesda *never* published on Nintendo before,  is that Skyrim remaster really coming to the Switch? Surely this must be an omen of better 3rd party support?

At this point the answer to many questions like this is neither yes or no. It's a secret!  Some roll their eyes, and presume it's a no. But I tell you - there's something so wondrous with many of the best things they've done in the past year that I personally wouldn't count anything out. And I think many of you feel the same.

The priority this year has never been about giving out the most complete set of information as early as possible. Instead - it's about creating a continous, captivating mystery. And I think it's working....

Yeah it's working so great that their stock price went down because they dragged out this reveal so long that stock holders were underwhelmed. 

It's a neat idea. It's not a fucking cure for cancer, Nintendo. Stop acting like every idea you have is something that Sony and MS and Apple etc. are falling out of their seat to copy. You're not that special of a snowflake and your poop doesn't smell like Armani colonge. 

You're revealing a product you want people to buy, you're not the Riddler trying to fool Batman and the Gotham Police force.

And Nintendo as a company was worth 1 billion more before the announcement.What does this mean?Nothing.Its just the market being the market.
