I posted a small comment on the news article, but to sum up the third party cycle with Nintendo at this point:

1) Be informed about new Nintendo console
2) Be totally excited and commit to jumping on board and finally repairing that third party relationship
3) Release a few ports of previously released games, maybe spending a bit of time focusing on the latest gimmick
4) Complain because sales just weren't good enough
5) Abandon Nintendo until it is time to repeat the cycle again in 4 - 6 years, sprinkling in excuses for the lack of support being optional

As others have stated, third parties have a habit of jumping on board with any new console, and jumping ship the exact moment sales don't go well, particularly with Nintendo consoles where trust basically doesn't exist. Let's see if third parties can get beyond the porting of already released games phase before we start praising the second coming of third party support for Nintendo.
