First impression of Bound in VR:

Wow, that immersion level. First thing I did was have the character walk straight up to me and stare her right in the eyes. What a weird experience. Of course then she stuck her head forward and I got a view of the inside lol. However that sense of presence is something else. You have that with the Kitchen demo as well, yet the characters won't sit still there.

The game is great in VR, everything moves and since the graphics are already meant to be sort of glitchy any camera clipping through walls seems natural. All the effects look amazing in VR, sense of scale is immense with open levels and plenty awesome spaces to look around. You move the character through a 3D parkour with the right stick while you move your own viewpoint in discreet steps with the left stick following the character. It works, gives it a kinda voyeuristic feel.

There is no spoken text (distorted sound instead) with floating subtitles taking care of the (sparse) narrative. You do have to be looking the right way to see the subtitles. You can freely switch back to 2D in the options, what a difference.

2D version might look better in screenshots, yet compared to how it looks in the headset the 2D version looks flat, boring, washed out with narrow fov. No clue how vr games can effectively get advertised.
