A $400 device in 2016 being able to render at 4K resolutions, even if it has to do checkerboard renderding is pretty high end. For $400 you show me something a lot better available this fall. |
For $400 it's quite reasonable and modern. And that's the approach Nintendo has traditionally taken. It was only with Sony and MS jumping the gun into HD and selling loss-leading machines at high prices pushing $600 more than a decade ago that Nintendo veared. Today's Playstations are similar to the Nintendo approach up to Wii, where they use tech a few years old and sell it at a reasonable price, at a profit. Both Iwata and Miyamoto made it clear they need to offer products that appeal to the Western, core gamer who enjoys consoles. I expect NX to offer something for this market. A gaming tablet is not it.
