I think there is a chance with gamestop deals and the pro stealing lots of orders, that XBO could definately win OCT... I do agree with you though that whatever XBO does now, will easily get wiped out by Sony in Nov/Dec, which is quite ironic as its doing exactly what XBO said was important last year. Perhaps sony is happy to lose the odd month now and basically wait for the moments where they will get the best situation for them without dropping the price.... well at least it makes it interesting :D

Sony is still outselling worldwide, they have a holidays coming and a new product.  

Xbox should try to become more popular in other countries, but they never do.

Yes I appreciate that and XBO will not be able to beat Sony WW and wont beat Sony in USA, but its fun to speculate on what they are doing and what other systems there are that have an impact on the sales numbers. It all makes us more knowlegable about it :D
