It's just a wearable display when used in that capacity.
So, any HDMI out device should theoretically be compatible with PSVR in "cinematic mode" which is underutilizing the hardware, but does offer an alternative to a standard HDTV style display.
For a non-intrusive way of watching video content (that also functions as your sound output) that won't disturb anyone with noise or the lights of a display, it's not a bad option, just probably not worth it for $400 if it's not being used for VR content.
