I dont at all that reference "family of devices" has anuthing with "don't put all your eggs in one basket", Iwata in that time just said that they were thinking about unifed platform and same eco system, like iOS and Android. But it seem after that they decided that is better than in middle of generation release hybrid device instead separate handheld and separate home console, Iwat year later said: "still, I am not sure if the form factor (the size and configuration of the hardware) will be integrated" and "Whether we will ultimately need just one device will be determined by what consumers demand in the future, and that is not something we know at the moment."

Mate you believe what you want, having only one device as a hybrid is putting all their egss in one basket as everything is then riding on that one device doing well, if it turns out flawed the only saving grace is that the would be no competition in the portable market. A family of devices doesn't have this problem and fits in with the IOS and Android reference much better than a hybrid device does.
