==> for me it is wrong Xbox name is strong in NA and match the PS name (pretty sure) but I doubt it has outcompeted it. PS3 would never be able to sell so well if it was the case. In PAL, PS name is really strong AND Xbox name is pretty weak outside UK (or others others ^^). Overall, people dont hate Xbox they just dont know it. Wii/DS are the real big winner. People in my laboratory (that just dont care of console (+25 years old + girl)) are going to purchase DSlite and some already have the Wii. They also like to add how "males" (mainly their brothers) are still interested in getting a PS3 ...

Where I live (New York) most 30+ people are far more likely to know what you are talking about if you say "PlayStation" than "Xbox." (most also know what "Nintendo" is too) Under 30, most people I've talked to respond equally to Xbox and PlayStation. (ie. neither is more recognizable as a brand) Also, if some says "yeah, I've got a 360", the general reaction is "Hey that's cool" but when I say I have PS3, most people look at me like I'm a celebrity or something. (Maybe because of how expensive it is?) At least where I live, most people are pretty impressed if you own a PS3. Again, I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing it's because of the price (ie. "this guy can afford to buy a PS3??! Wow, he's got to be cool or something..") more than anything else.
Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
