History has shown that, when a company retains the "old values" of past iterations and abandons or refuses to adopt the "new values" of a disruptive iteration, their games become increasingly niche until they find themselves catering to a very small userbase. A good example of this is the old-fashioned tactical simulation game. Most people don't have any idea what Master of Orion is, nor have they heard of Galactic Civilizations. After the real-time strategy genre disrupted that genre, it faded into relative obscurity.
So assuming they remain focused on the "old values", those companies will pander to ever-shrinking markets. Given that their game budgets are prohibitively huge, this will mean that they will either have to lower production values or charge a premium for their software.
Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.
