Sure we all want to see the NX, but how will it be marketed in the months leading up to it's release?
Here's what I expect. These aren't leaks or even rumors - just what makes sense to me. What do you think?
+Figure a 40 min+ Direct for the reveal. Reggie and Bill handling the reveal.
+NX reveal gets dated by the time the investor meeting
+The NX will be pre-orderable - but in very, very limited quantities at a small number of retailers -- by Black Friday this year.
+From reveal through first month or two into launch, every 4-5 weeks, we'll get Treehouse streams of NX games and features of the NX console.
+Major Youtubers/streamers and very select gaming journalists make guest appearances on the Treehouse streams to play the NX.
+There won't be an event for the general gaming press to get hands on with the NX until February. This will coincide with a final pre NX launch direct.
+Final pre-launch direct NX features 3rd parties talking about the hardware and their upcoming releases on NX - similar to what you saw with the Scorpio
+There will be at least 2 ads for the NX during the Super Bowl. One focusing on Zelda and another just generally about the NX launch. Ads will repeat a week before NX launch.
+Some NX marketing materials (e.g. a flyer) will be packaged into NES Classic edition + anything else Nintendo ships past late November
+Major focus on carts and the advantages thereof (less download + installation time)
+Bonus - We'll learn more about the Xbox Scorpio before *any* of this happens.
Update/added prediction
+In February, Nintendo will partner with major retailers for in-store NX demo events following the final pre-launch direct. Similar to what they did with Best Buy for Super Mario Maker/Super Smash Bros - but on a much wider scale. The demo events will focus largely on Zelda - but also promote several other major launch titles, including 3rd party games
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
