Yes. I used to be more active on VGC as well.
My reasons for losing interest in this site are pretty similar to yours. 1: Worse community: Nowadays I rarely post even in threads with topics that interests me because lately I've just ended up rolling my eyes at all the unconstructive posts and felt like wasting time. More and more users only seem to post on this site to talk bad about games/consoles/products they don't even own. Additionally, I don't like all the political and religious threads either. 2: Worse sales updates: Even though the numbers were often quite inaccurate I enjoyed the weekly sales updates and the constructive discussions they spawned. We need to go back to having consistent weekly sales updates in order for these to be relevant again. And not with a 2 month delay. The numbers need to be fresh.
I'm still here due to 3 things (basically in the hope of things improving). 1: I still like some of the users from both the Sony, MS, Ninty and neutral fanbases. Many have already left though and while I've enjoyed most of my time here I'll probably leave soon as well. 2: I still like VGC's databases with pretty accurate historical sales numbers. Though I don't need an account to access those. 3: I still hope the functionality and design will improve with truck's new code and I still hope for a return to weekly updates (latter may be very naive). |
I completely concur! The community seem a lot more toxic, than when I first joined. And that's a damn shame. I'm also still around mostly because of the same reasons as you; there's some really nice users around here to have interesting discussions with, and the older sales data are awesome! I'm hoping for a mobile version of this site as well.... I wish we could at least get updates every other week or something. Once a month at the very least.
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
