While I agree, I think some were hoping of something similar to previous gen. We had new IPs like Uncharted, Mass Effect, Wii series, Professor Layton, Bioshock, Skate, Xenoblade, Portal, Gears of War, The Last of Us, Nintendogs, Assassin's Creed, Batman Arkham, etc.

To be fair, The Last of Us launched 3 years ago, the same year that this gen launched.  Watch Dogs, Destiny and Overwatch are games that sold 10+ millions each, while only Portal Assassin's Creedy,The Last of US(with the remaster) and Batman were able to surpass.

The Witcher wasn't created this generation, but the sales of the 3 game surpassed by far the sales of the other 2. Fallout also became much more popular.
