Some of you guys are really thick-headed. Ubi-Soft announced that they were making another Red Steel last year after the release of the first one. Seeing as how Red Steel managed to become a million-seller, it's pretty obvious they're going to make another one anyway. No pictures have been released because, believe it or not, they're working on the bloody game right now. They also said they're aiming for online deathmatches and more refined controls. Konami has essentially admitted that a new Castlevania game for the Wii is being worked on.
It's been mentioned a few times as the dev (whose name escapes me at the moment) indicated a high interest in working on the Wii but said they don't think a whip-swinging motion would be a logical fit. On top of which, there was a report last year from GameSpot indicated that Square-Enix, Sega, and Capcom all dropped a lot of PS3 support to focus more directly on Wii and DS. Keep in mind, it takes a while to make a game, so the fruits of this switch probably won't start showing up in earnest until 2009. At the time of the article, Square-Enix had actually abandoned the PS3 completely except for the two versions of FFXIII. A rumor came up afterwards that Sony begged (with $$$) for Square-Enix to craft another exclusive PS3 title for them. Don't expect to see that until 2010 at the soonest.
Nobody is really dropping the Wii. It's the new popular system. Nintendo has more third party devs and publishers on their side now than they've had for the last two console generations. The heavy support of the VC and Wii Ware titles backs this up as well. Yeesh.
The thing is, a lot of 3rd party companies were slow to adopt the Wii, just as they were slow to adopt the DS. But now that they've seen the success, they've been moving back into Nintendo's camp en masse. Many still want to make the visual masterpieces they can on the Xbox260 and PS3, but the Wii's sales continue to be very strong. They won't be ignoring that for long. |
