I dont know, thats like saying DS or Wii werent innovative because touch screens & motion controls already existed, or that iPod/iPhone/iPad werent innovative because MP3/smartphones/tablets already existed.
Taking a concept and making drastic improvements allowing for said concept to become mainstream would qualify as innovation.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
