After Demon Souls Sony reached out to Miyazaki to rectify their mistake on being dismisive of ps3 exclusive Demon Souls, and wanted a sequel for Demon Souls, but miyazaki declined, as the concept had been altered to fit Dark Souls series. So Miyazaki proposed a new game at the end of Dark Souls 2 production for the next gen console but would require a new engine for sony exclusive and their future games, hence Sony Japan was brought in to speed up the development process and release the Bloodborne before Dark Souls 3.
