I'm not saying every criminal should be killed. I'm saying those who are willing to enter someone else's home with a gun, yeah, I have no problem with them being killed. I mean, did the woman have to be killed for them to get the death penalty?

Yes, the crime has to actually happen before you can dole out the penalty.  I understand that she was protecting herself, and they came in with guns as well, so I'm not going to admonish someone for shooting at home invaders with guns.  That said, I'm not going to congratulate her and wish she'd killed more of them either.  

You can say that they would have killed her if she didn't have the gun, but you can't prove it, and since the entire point of the justice system is innocent until proven guilty you can only prove that several guys went into a house with guns.  Do we have any reason to think that they were there to do more than rob the place?  If so I'll listen to that evidence, but people should not get the death penalty for burglary.
