| JRPGfan said: Full Definition of generation
*edit: This isnt how most gamers understand the world "generation" applied to consoles. Its not just about the 1 product, being another in a line from the last one of its kinde. People are talking past one another, because they have differnt understandings of what the word means applied to consoles.
Nintendo guys here are saying Generations = d. Others are saying Generations = b.
Both are right. Nintendos next system is their 9th. But its not a 9th gen (it wont exist to compete against PS5 or XBtwo, but rather 8th gen systems, PS4 & XB1) = its a 8th gen system in that sense.
It depends on how you think the word generations is used with consoles. |
With Nintendo it is their 6th generation coming up with NES, SNES, N64, Wii, and Wii U being their first 5. With Playstation, they're on their fourth, thus the name PS4, very easy to follow. Microsoft doesn't play by the rules, they started with generation 0, moved on to their 360th generation, and now they're on generation 1.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
