Expectations, dude. Everyone told you how much fun Yoshi games are and so you went in with that in mind. Of course you are gonna be dissatisfied. And what kind of story did you expect, seriously? This game doesn't need one at all. Oh, spoilers ahead: DKCTF has no story either. And spoiler no. 2: Yoshi games have never been hard, that has never been their purpose. But you expected it to be, for whatever reason.

Now I will stop bashing. Sorry if that came too harsh. It's great that you have put a lot of thoughts into that review. Unfotunately, you didn't mention the soundtrack, which is fantastic. I still have some of the themes stuck in my head occasionally. Playing this with a partner really is crazy fun, I finished it twice with my gf. But even when playing alone, I would never call it boring. Anyway, keep it up!

I actually had no expectations, pre-order it blind since I liked the yarn yoshi bundle... Never really got the chance to be talked up upon. For the story, I'm just saying it would be nice if they'd put some more effort into, I didn't take points off for it, I even said the gameplay is truely what matters. But it would be nice if nintendo tried to take one of the 2D games to the next level and incorporate it with a story.

For music, it had its hits, but it also had its issues with some song really not fitting into the theme of the level. But it's no where close to the music in games like Dk: TP or Rayman Legends.

I can't agree with the thinking that being intentionally easy (if you don't go for 100%) and slow paced are negatives. You're basically criticising the game because of it's genre, knocking off points for what it set out to do.

I've enjoyed slow paced 2D platformer before, I couldn't find this one to be interesting. The slow pace for a mediocre(my opinion) game just made it worse.

You couldn't find it interesting because... it's slow paced and easy? I mean those are the only negatives points in your review, yet now you're implying that even without those points the game is still mediocre.
