Wii U is similar in power to PS3/360 with the same architecture and was designed to get ports. It launched with Call of Duty, FIFA, Madden, NBA 2K, Assassin's Creed, Batman, Mass Effect, Darksiders, Ninja Gaiden, Tekken.

It sold poorly because why would anybody switch from PS3/360 to Wii U to play games they can already get?

If Nintendo releases a $300-400 thats somewhere between PS4 & PS4 Pro level of power with an emphasis on getting ports, how is that any different from Wii U?

People who bought a PS4/XBO from 2013-2016 arent going to switch to a new similar console to play the same games, people in 2017 and beyond looking for a console are going to likely pick the ones with a large existing library and online community.

The only main difference would be that Wii U released 6-7 years after PS3/360 while NX is set to launch 3.5 years after PS4/XBO which may help to a slight degree.

Well the Wii U didn`t release until 2012. The Xbox 360 was 2005. The Wii U was way too late for that party. Of course people wouldn`t switch, if they had really went for power though and it had been similar to PS4/Xbox One then people wouldn`t need to just switch since it would actually be an upgrade.

Besides, there was some other pretty big differences between that and PS/Xbox, namely a large expensive tablet controller.

If the NX does go for power it may very well be too little too late, but at least it won`t be anywhere near as late as the Wii U was.

yes, i went over that in my last post, Wii U released 6-7 years later than PS3/360 while NX is set to release 3.5 years after PS4/XBO but that doesnt really change anything because current PS4/XBO owners arent going to switch over to NX to play the same games and people who care about power are going to pick Pro/Scorpio.

NX could get multiplats but it will be the same as Wii U where they likely wont sell too well because the audience isnt there.
