Why do we insist that NX has to be another PS or XB, or else it'll fail?

That's not the only problem. Lots of people are already assuming what the NX is, a hybrid-handheld, and there's no concrete evidence about that. The NX could still be anything but that. But people just assume, they don't think.

Let's be fair, would someone be excited if they heard that the NX is just a powerful WiiU handheld you could plug on your TV with a dock that add nothing ? I don't see myself being excited. Nothing would be surprising. 

If it has awesome launch games then yeah I would be excited.
