Because what has everyone else talked about? Power. That's it. We're surrounded by power improvements even more now. With Pro and Scorpio. That's what sells consoles, practically now. The Wii's luck will never happen again. Phones have replaced the majority of those people.
All of Nintendo's recent console decisions have basically failed. Regardless of the "weaker" console winning, in the past. The 3 consoles of those era's all looked comparable. Even though the N64 was graphically better. The PS1 was able to do video on a disc. And have longer games. That was a major wow factor. That can't be ignored. Another thing. All those eras were low resolution. That hid those limitations. Now, with everything pushing res. These limitations can't be covered up. We also all evolved with the mediums. We don't expect to see Cloud as pixelated boxes anymore. People expect quality work. That has a limited area of acceptablity. Anything 3D in the early mid 90's was a wow. Anything that could do FMV, was a wow. People are not impressed by this anymore. This is all common.
Another reason is that: does Nintendo need to give people who have been disappointed or hating on Nintendo. Another thing to complain at. The hole of disappointment has gotten bigger. Anything slightly wrong/weaker. Will be vitrified.
The same hate happened to Metroid Fed Force. Why was it hated and went to hell? We had a unliked previous game, Other M. Like Wii failing in its later years. Then we had a 6 year break. Like Wii U failing. Fed Force is revealed. Everyone goes and says "WTF!". If NX is under powered. We know 3rd parties will not attempt quality. So everyone is going to say "WTF!" again.
