I have to address this, I have to understand why people believe this is so...

Ever since the latest Foxconn rumor (which I believe has been debunked), many content creators on youtube are making videos about the rumored console. The translations of the image say that even with this "Docking Station" NX won't be as powerful as the base PS4. Yes, this means NX won't be as powerful as 8th gen consoles, excluding Wii U, and the Scorpio and Pro.

But why does that automatically make NX a failure? One youtuber, Retroreviewtech, Iove his content but something that ticks me off about his thought process is when he talks about power. He gets really scared when he hears that NX isn't as powerful as the PS4 or Pro, or Scorpio. Here's the video if you want to take a looksee:

So, he thinks NX could be great but when he goes into "power mode" it's all doom and gloom for Nintendo. Which I don't understand. 3DS was far less powerful than the Vita and it outsold it 4-5x over. Wii, it didn't even compete with the PS3 or Xbox360 in terms of raw power and we all know how that turned out. And of course I also present that the Wii U was less powerful than PS4 and Xbone and it sold piss poor.

But my question to those who speculate about NX is, why do you feel that just because it isn't as powerful as the current competition, that it'll fail. I've seen many other content creators that feel this way and I've had multiple conversations with other peers and university about this as well, many of them feel this way as well but they never give me a concrete answer as to why.

I feel that if NX is just another reskinned 8+GB GPU, x64, etc. we'll hit a stalemate with gaming. Most Nintendo fans I know don't play Nintendo because of how powerful their consoles are. They love the content. And even by this rumor and actual news, Japanese 3rd parties seem to be on board with NX. And I think that's all Nintendo needs to really push NX. Consoles are dying in Japan, we all can see this. So I think from a Japanese perspective, another one of these high priced consoles won't do well there.

Agh, so what do you think? I know we don't have much to go on but does NX need to be "superpowered" to succeed? My answer is no because first and foremost, games are supuposed to be fun. If you fail that aspect you're already a failed game. And believe me, I understand that Nintendo hasn't made the best choices in the years past. Some of their actions are dare I say backwards in terms of connectivity with their consumers, and online structure.
