You have to compare the overall value in a fair way. Comparing price and only hardware specs is unfair.

For $299 you will get a hybrid console with a 720p screen handheld portable and physical controls and a machine that you also can hook up to your TV like a Wii U. You get a super modern 3DS and a Wii U in one device!

Of course this all costs money. You use very primitive logic if you only compare the GPU specs with the PS4's 1.84 TFLOPS and think the NX should be able to include more for that price. But the portable 720p screen also costs money, and the docking station costs money. Of course they have to compromise somewhere. Making a handheld with PS4's power is physically impossible.

If Nintendo's hardware engineers really can provide all this and sell it for only $249 they have done an incredible job. But we can't demand that.

$299 is the logical price we should expect.

The Nvidia shield tablet has a 8" screen thats 1920x1080p.

NX haveing a 6" screen @720p for 199$ should be possible, if Nvidia can do more with their tablet, while haveing the same specs (rumors) ect.

You can also hook that up to the TV.

Nvidia manage that for 199$, while not haveing anywhere near the same prospects of recouping costs with software sales that nintendo does.

I think Nintendo could managed to hit 199$ with this, if that is their goal.

That leaves you with 3 choices:

Super high end Microsoft scorpio ~499$

Mid end PS4 pro ~399$  (maybe 349$ by the time scorpio launches)

low end NX ~199$

Something like that is what I imagine to happend.

Please don't compare apples and oranges. Why do you bring the Nvidia Shield tablet all of a sudden?

The Nvidia Shield portable doesn't have a 1080p screen, it has a 720p screen at only 5 inches. And it launched at $299.

The NX will have a 6 inch screen and other upgraded components compared with the Nvidia Shield, and it will be more powerful.

$199 is unreasonable. I think you are putting up those expectations so that you can complain and declare it as a failure when the launch price is announced, but in reality you don't believe it will cost $199 at launch.
