Can you hook an Nvidia Shield to your TV?

Yes you can.

There is also a seperate Shield TV box too.

 Dedicated physical detachable controls?

The shield controller can detach from the shield tablet.

Did the Nvidia Shield launch for only $199?

Sadly no.

Your comparison with the PS4 Slim and Xbox One Slim at $299 are not entirely fair, because those are old consoles now, over three years old by the time NX comes out.

Actually those revisions/consoles only released this year.

One of them even offers better performance and new features.

And even if we would compare with the PS4 and Xbox One, even if the NX is slightly weaker hardware it's roughly in the same ballpark.

I highly doubt the NX will be in the same ballpark as the Xbox One, let alone the Playstation 4, the technology doesn't really exist yet.
But, if on release I am proven wrong I will also be very happy.

I believe the NX will cost $299 at launch (and be a huge sucess). It will cost only $249 if we're extremely lucky.

I am hoping for NX to be a huge success, Microsoft and Sony could do with the competition in my opinion.

Sorry for picking your post apart though.

lol "picking apart"

But the docking station doesn't come in the box!

Can you confirm that you get an Nvidia Shield that you can connect to the TV for only $199, not having to pay anything extra?

The revisions are new, but the performance is three years old in the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One Slim for $299.

The NX is in the same ballpark (a subjective opinion) as an Xbox One if it is 500 gflops (versus 1.3 tflops of the XBO) and runs the same games at 720p that the Xbox One can run in 900p.
