The PC comparison is actually pretty much what this will be. Heck it is almost like last gen where some MP games ran and looked slightly better on 360 than PS3. And it never stopped anyone from buying a PS3 and being happy with it.
Also the friend bragging about their pro things seems silly to me. I mean I have a 2012 Altima by friend just bought a 2016 Chevy Camero. And he brags about it and I see how good it looks but I don't feel "forced" to upgrade. I have a 60inch LG HDTV and my other friend just got a 75 inch Samsung 4kUHDTV and brags about it and I saw how good it looks and I do not feel forced to upgrade. So that argument just seems odd to me. Of course it may be an issue to others who feel they have to have the best(even though they technically don't because there will always be someone who has better) but for most everyday folks I do not think it will be an issue at all. To the hardcore forum dwellers like some of us...maybe.
I plan on getting a Pro around the time the Scorpio releases because it will be a lot cheaper by then and I might have a 4k TV by then...maybe anyway lol.

Your right maybe BO3 was a bad example. How about GTA5?, Or CoD Ghost?.
But the point still stands. Its not that people want the greatest its that they want the best from their brand. Consoles are different then TV's and other gadgets that get yearly upgrades and people know that when they buy a Sony branded console it will last. I dont think Sony should bring their consoles into the same upgradable space as other devices since i believe this will be bad in the long run.
Think of it like this. When sony does go to launch the PS5 most people who would of got it on Day 1 are now going to be like "Fuck it ill just wait for the PS5Pro". PS4Pro could face the same problem on release. With talk of PS5 coming 2-3 years after people might just say "Fuck it ill wait and get a PS5 on release" or they might say "Fuck it ill skip the PS4 this time and get the XB1S next year since it will last me longer before i need to upgrade again" They could even just go to the NX since nintendo seem to be the only company to still have real gens.
Like i said to me it doesnt really matter but im just saying it "might" be a problem for others and even a problem for Sony if it weakens their brand instead of making it stronger.
