You have to remember that labor participation accounts for people who are at the retirement age as well. You cannot only look at the Labour Participation rate but instead a bunch of other charts like the one that shows people who are 65 and older, hell you might even go to 55 since that is the age my Mom retired from IBM. The problem sometimes with certain stats is that they do not show the complete picture even the unemployment %.
