Some IGN guy thinks Xbox One S competes with Ps4 Pro and Scorpio is a different league, Lmao!

That the Xbox One S competes with the PS4P is self-evident? They are both consoles, they are both slight alterations to consoles that had a slight power differential. They are both touting 4K upscaling of games and 4k video display as key features (albeit with the Xbox One S having the 4k Blu-Ray drive the PS4P lacks).

If your argument is that the PS4P has a sufficient power differential to make it out of the Xbox One S's league, that is your opinion, based on a completely unscientific term.

But to an average consumer, the biggest differentiator of the two is going to be the current strength of the PS brand, and price. Feature for feature, these two consoles are absolutely in competition with one another.

You have to look at both halves of the statement to understand the reaction. Claiming "the Pro and X1S are competing" isn't that controversial. Some would disagree, but nowhere near to the degree that we see in this thread. The issue is they're essentially saying "[x] and [y] and competing, despite [z], but [x2] is in another league, because of [z]". It's inconsistent. 

On a side note, i think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say "they both tout 4k up-scaling of games" as if they're aiming for the same thing. It'd be like saying the X1 and 360 "both tout 1080p up-scaling of games". The former might have often missed a native 1080p target, but the latter did so by a larger degree. The X1's up-scaled 1080p was worth a lot more than the 360's in most instances.

I still haven't watched the video, perhaps he was particularly arrogant about it. But I'd have read the statement in the OP more as XBS and PS4P are competing (the self-evident bit), but Scorpio is in a different league. The latter I'd have interpreted as the ability to routinely run games natively in 4k, which neither of the other two consoles will do outside of very limited exceptions.

Of course, whether the Scorpio will actually achieve this is a different question entirely, and I am skeptical - but this thread contains an enormous amount of faux outrage IMO.
