How old is this story. I remember reading this a long time ago but as stated here its speculation, meaning nothing actuallying coming from Nadella. From my understanding this is a statement made by some analyst but it had absolutly nothing to do with actual direction or statements from the CEO. If we take his actual statements then it paints a different picture
“The single biggest digital life category, measured in both time and money spent, in a mobile-first world is gaming,” writes Nadella in the letter, adding that Microsoft is “fortunate” to have the Xbox brand, and that the company “will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox.”
This link where I got that quote also talks about that statement which really does not prove anything then someone believing they know the direction MS is going instead of actually knowing.

But more specifically:
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Suggests the Future of Xbox Could Be Mobile
Xbox is not mobile.

Yeah, the Xbox is not mobile but it does deliver their XBL service to the living room which he said is important. MS is a big company that produce a lot of products. MS saying that mobile and service are their number one business does not mean they suddently drop windows, keyboard and mice, Server software, Office etc.
