There's this recent article that says, "Nintendo threatens diehard fans; Sega hires them".  Basically the article criticizes Nintendo for taking down these games, while Sega is praised for encouraging fanmade games and even goes on to say that Sega hired them to make ports on to smart phones.  That's all good and dandy, but there's that backseat driving element in this article.  Like it calls out Nintendo for not being more encouraging towards their fans.  The article finishes off by statinging: "Don’t threaten your biggest fans, Nintendo. Enable them. Their creativity benefits your brand, whether you realize it or not, so stop trying to shut it all down. These fans just might have the shakeup your games need right now."

First off, I support Nintendo in enacting their rights to take these games down.  For any fan that's making these games, they have to know that's what's going to happen.  Apparently Nintendo has taken down 500 plus games already having to do with their IP so they should know to place such effort or even money into something that'll never come back to them.  And what's worst is that they're citing other companies that play ball and let these fans do what they want to do with IP that's not theirs.  News flash, Nintendo is not those other companies, Nintendo certainly is not Sega.  Fortunately or not, Nintendo marches to the beat of their own drums.  They are strict with what their business model is and any deviation be it natural or fan caused will get them into arms to have it their way and the backlash is uncalled for.  It's not.  Games like AM2R is still available through other means.  And I get he anger, for the creators, that's time, money and passion.  For fans of those games, it's another game taken down that they can't play(though they actually can because internet).  It's like, enter at your own peril.  Beware of Dog.  No lifeguard on duty.  Yet, it seems like a hell storm after another big project gets shut down.

Nintendo should be praised for not being like the others in this aspect.  Don't even get me started on their youtube policy.  BTW, it's genius.

UPDATE: So the thread topic is: I don't care about your fanmade games being taken down.  But the big concern is whether or not Nintendo is praiseworthy for it.  Quick answer: I praise them for it, because it's a big move and one that's not liked.  Pretty ballsy if you asked me and one that deserves a little praise seeing how so many people are at arms about it.
