Pretty sure that's the lesson MS learned this gen. They cannot be weaker than the Playstation and expect to get the "dudebros" multiplat gamer. They need to always be a step ahead. They may even go one further and make the Scorpio a modular console where the the chipset/RAM can be upgraded in a simple plug n' play way.

What? That's exactly what they did and succeded with last gen.
360 was weaker and cheaper, realeasing before the PS3, and that gave the XBOX brand a MASSIVE boost.
Pretty sure 'dudebros' was a term created to CoD fans, which were mostly 360 gamers as well.

Seems like you got lots of things wrong, if MS is thinking like this as their learned lesson, PS will just grow even more.

Actually the 360 did run a lot of multiplats better last gen.

I have a lot of dudebros/Calladooty buddies (not my cup of tea, but they love it), they all swear the 360 is better than the PS3 graphically, I remember I tried to tell them that the CELL chip was more advanced in many ways, Uncharted 2/3 looks great, etc. etc. but they weren't hearing it, lol. Wouldn't believe a word of it.

Whether it's even factual or not until this generation MS had convinced a lot of people that XBox had the better third party experience. (The O.G. XBox was clearly better than the PS2).

When the XBox brand loses that prestige, it loses most of its appeal. The XBox's job is to be the "challenger" to the Playstation brand, well it's not much of a challenge if you're weaker from day 1. MS needs parity at minimum, and an advantage (clear one) would be quite desirable.
