That how "physical media" looks in comparison is so important that it should be the most important thing when dealing with a video game console? People should pass up on all ps4s, their exclusives, vr, etc - because the look of the media is different between digital and physical?

And I agree people won't choose a "subpar media player." People aren't going to spend a ton of money on a 4K TV - then bargain shop for the cheapest 4K player.... which is why including a 4k player in the ps4 would have done nothing.

If people are going to go premium TV - they will want a premium player, not the cheapest one they can find.

Actually the XBox One S 4K BR playback is apparently very, very good, it's one of the best players on the market apparently (keep in mind 4K Blu-Ray players can run $700 alone):
