That how "physical media" looks in comparison is so important that it should be the most important thing when dealing with a video game console? People should pass up on all ps4s, their exclusives, vr, etc - because the look of the media is different between digital and physical?

And I agree people won't choose a "subpar media player." People aren't going to spend a ton of money on a 4K TV - then bargain shop for the cheapest 4K player.... which is why including a 4k player in the ps4 would have done nothing.

If people are going to go premium TV - they will want a premium player, not the cheapest one they can find.

As a TV salesman, I can confirm that they actually do. They come in planning to blow their whole load on the best TV they can afford, and then have no idea how to get the content. It's a good thing most 4K TVs support external storage. You can literally just download everything into an external harddrive and run it straight into the TV via USB 3.0
