I don't think he meant demise and in death, but rather demise as in possible loss of domination or possible loss of first place.

The answer obviously doesn't lie in amount of quality games, because if so, 360 would have likely won this generation alltogether.

I think it lies in what makes the Wii such a success right now. The console that could give Nintendo a run for its money will:

A. Have a competitive price point at launch.

B. Have evolved hardware beyond graphics and HD output. In other words, something innovative to spice up word of mouth.

C. Come bundled with some sort of tech demo to show off that hardware. Preferrably this demo would be fun and exciting.

D. Run a successful marketing campaign for its new console, aimed at casual gamers.

E. Have games aimed at casual gamers, in order to take market share from Nintendo.

F. Have dependable hardware and customer service.

G. Create games that are universally loved in Japan, America, and Others, from their first party efforts.

You can bet your bottom dollar Nintendo will do all of these things. It's basically the DS model, and it's really, really hard for a company to pull it off, because it's relatively risky.

I'll go ahead and fanboy out here and say that as long as the casual market stays interested in gaming, and as long as Nintendo is the only one catering to them, Nintendo will win the console wars.

It's a tough sell, telling someone that the hardcore gaming market is gonna outbuy the casual gaming market in hardware sales, and the fact is, Nintendo is pulling people in from both of those markets.

Things change though, so you never know.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
