This is what annoys me about Nintendo so much is how they always decide to go the path of underpowering their systems in order to try and have a lower price. In doing so they sacrifice third party support, and you can see how that won't always work out when you look at the Wii U, or likewise it could end up like the Wii. But still, this is an exact quote from Bethesda saying "Make it powerful enough to where we don't have to downgrade anything, and we'll consider supporting it" but then Nintendo will still think it will be fine if they underpower it or something.
Nintend acts like there isn't an inbetween. You CAN have a powerful system and still keep it at a good price, just like when the PS4 launched at $399, but with Nintendo they act like it HAS to be one or the other. Especially considering the PS4 and Xbox One are years old now, so getting at least to their hardware level should not cost nearly as much by now, I would assume at least. But if the rumors apparently the NX won't even be powerful enough as an Xbox One are true (which could be false, we'll have to see at the official reveal). That's such a joke honestly. They're doing the same thing they did with the Wii U if that's the case.

Nintendo had plenty of powerfull console before the Wii and it didn' really help with the 3rd party games at all. That support just kept sliding like their sales.

I've said plenty of times before that even if Nintendo had the most powerful console out of all of them it still wouldn't get ALL third party game, but what annoys me about Nintendo's decisions is that if a third party developer DOES want to release on the NX or any Nintendo system, but sees it as too underpowered and they don't wanna have to downgrade a lot, THEN that is Nintendo's own fault and they have nobody to blame but themselves.
It's different when a publisher doesn't think there's an audience for their game on Nintendo's systems compared to when a developer wants to release on one of their systems but won't because of how much downgrades they would have to do, essentially making a different version of the game.
